BF6 Gamers Are Convinced: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, notably for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.

Users have commenced using personalized games created through Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how arduous these missions have become.

Understanding BF6 Assignments

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four types of assignments, but although many only reward cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of obtaining twelve from the forty-one primary weapons present in the game.

Several of these locked weapons may soon find their way on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration across Reddit

On Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Extremely Difficult Mission

Another Reddit user pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles

This is challenging enough as it is, but there's one more key thing to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game right now, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and perhaps a classic map in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.

The Alternative Method

Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.

But when completing the missions in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for grinding them out in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Future Adjustments

It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, some players simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.

At the moment, the community continues to share their thoughts on these demanding in-game tasks, hoping for a less arduous player experience in coming revisions.
